Choosing an On-Grid Inverter: A Simple Guide for Your Roof
A smaller home and a busy workshop need different solar solutions. Understand where 3–5 kW, 8–10 kW and larger inverter options enter the conversation.

The first useful question is simple: does your property have a single-phase or three-phase connection? That helps narrow the inverter family before you compare sizes and features.
Start with your connection
| Property connection | TommaTech family to explore | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Single-phase | Uno Home N · 3.6–6.2 kW | A compact rooftop range with two independent solar trackers. |
| Three-phase | Trio Inova · 3–15 kW | A choice of sizes for suitable homes, shops and farm buildings. |
| Larger three-phase commercial roof | Castor · 18–25 kW; Evo · 30–36 kW | More capacity where the roof, demand and grid connection support it. |
For bigger projects, the wider Trio portfolio includes Zen, Force and Grand families. We introduce these when the property’s requirement calls for them, so your first comparison stays relevant.
Which features make a difference in everyday use?
- Two solar trackers on Uno Home N: useful for separately managing suitable roof sections with different conditions.
- Monitoring: see production and review how the system is performing, with the required monitoring equipment.
- Export control where supported: a function to assess against the local utility requirement and required accessories.
Choose panel layout and inverter together
A 6 kWp panel array and a 6 kW inverter label describe different parts of the system. The allowed solar input power, voltage and current must all suit the selected modules and arrangement.
Two useful starting conversations
For a single-phase roof, compare an appropriate Uno Home N model using roof space and daylight consumption. For a three-phase home or business, start with the appropriate Trio Inova size. In both cases, send the roof photos and bill so we can move from a broad family to a specific offer.
Thinking about a battery later?
Mention it before selecting the inverter. A standard on-grid model does not automatically provide battery charging or outage backup. We can compare a suitable hybrid route if evening storage is part of your plan.
